Kickstarter Project

In August of 2009 I began planning my own wedding, being crafty, unique and a control freak I decided to decline a wedding planner and do everything myself. Being fresh out of college and my husband and I paying for everything ourselves I had to be smart and use our money correctly. I did research, but apparently not enough research. Three weeks before our wedding our florist cancelled, the week of our wedding our DJ cancelled and our photographer ended up not being as good as we thought. After getting back our engagements and only liking 6 out of the 500 photos taken we had to rush to find a second photographer.

Most men do not understand how important a wedding is to a woman. But we dream about this day from the time we are 5 years old. After all the headache needless to say in the end everything worked out. After my wedding I began thinking... there is no local wedding magazine for Central Texas. I had been looking at the big national magazines at Barnes and Noble but they were not realistic- coming from a middle class family there was no way we could spend a fortune. These magazines I had been looking at had $50,000 to $100,000 weddings showcased but realistically in this economy who's budget is $100,000? My idea is to publish a wedding magazine that is about LOCAL Brides with ALL budgets and LOCAL small businesses. In Austin, Texas we do not have access to these huge New York designers so why would brides in Texas even want to look at fancy dresses that they can't even try on or afford?

I want to showcase businesses and have a review section on the magazines website where brides can write reviews about the vendors they use as well.

Another problem I came across was just keeping up with all of the information for each vendor from Phone numbers, deposits paid, delivery times, addresses, websites etc. I plan on creating a side bar in each section where brides can keep all of there information.

Also, I would like to create a timeline in the back of the magazine for those brides who can not afford a wedding planner and are DIY girls like myself. Speaking of DIY the magazine will also show DIY projects, creative cocktail and dessert recipes and much more!
